The police don't investigate crime any more..

Is that true? What are our local police are doing to investigate crime? Do officers even attend the scene when a crime is reported? Do Sussex police do anything to prevent crime from happening nowadays? Do we support our local police enough?

Like to know the answers? Do you have a concern or have other questions? Then, we are pleased to say that Katy Bourne, OBE, the Sussex Police & Crime Commissioner, will be our guest speaker and available to answer your questions and hear your views at our forthcoming public meeting.

When is it? It is starting at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, 18th October 2023.

Where is it? The venue is Age UK, Lavinia House, Dukes Square, Denne Road, Horsham RH12 1GZ. You can also attend via Zoom. The meeting is free to attend.

Refreshments? Complimentary tea and coffee will be available before the meeting.

How do I book my place?

To reserve your place (or ask for the Zoom joining information) please use our website 'Contact' page or email

I want to ask Katy Bourne a question. You are free to ask at the meeting or If you have any particular questions that you'd like to have answered, please email them before the meeting.

Anything else I should know? Following Katy Bourne, we intend to hold a brief Forum AGM. I shall, after ten years, be standing down as Chairman at the AGM. Graham Sitton, a long-standing Forum committee member, has kindly put himself forward for the position. I will continue to support the Forum and will offer to stay on as a committee member.

Thank you for your continuing and valued support for the Forum and older people across our great District.

Martin Bruton

The Horsham District Older Peoples Forum (HDOPF) is an independent, non-political, voluntary group that is free to attend and participate in. It acts as the 'ears' and gives a 'voice' to people aged 60 and over who reside in the Horsham District Council area or care for someone who is. The forum exists for anyone to raise issues related to or affecting local older people. The Forum holds quarterly public meetings within the district. We take action where possible on issues raised, i.e. take up with local councils or with a project; we also act as an information hub and consultative group for anyone seeking the views of older people in the district on particular plans, topics, or schemes that may affect older people. The Forum is working towards an 'Age-Friendly' and 'Dementia Friendly' Horsham.
